POSITION SUMMARY
The Field Engineer / Resident Project Representative serves as the primary on-site liaison between the project team, contractors, and the client. This role is responsible for ensuring construction activities comply with project plans, specifications, safety standards, and contractual obligations for water and wastewater utility improvements serving Metro Water Services in Nashville, Tennessee. You will work closely with project managers and design engineers to keep projects on schedule, on budget, and on spec.
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Field Oversight and Construction Management
- Serve as the primary on-site representative for assigned construction projects, overseeing daily operations
- Monitor construction activities for compliance with plans, specifications, safety protocols, and contractual obligations
- Review and interpret construction plans and specifications to guide field activities and verify accuracy
- Prepare regular progress reports documenting project status, issues encountered, and corrective actions
Project Coordination and Communication
- Coordinate with project managers, design engineers, contractors, and client representatives to facilitate smooth project execution
- Act as day-to-day point of contact between the field and the broader project team

POSITION PRE-REQUISITES AND PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
Required
- Proven experience in construction site management or as a Resident Project Representative
- Strong background in water infrastructure, civil, or heavy construction projects
- Proficiency reviewing construction plans and specifications
- Hands-on experience with Unifier and Bluebeam
- Strong understanding of contracts, project coordination, and construction site safety protocols
- Excellent time management skills and ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
Preferred
- Prior experience on large-scale water or wastewater infrastructure projects
- Experience with Primavera P6 scheduling software
- Familiarity with Metro Water Services or similar municipal utility clients
Compensation and Benefits
- Contract position: $50.00 – $55.00 per hour
